Build your business savvy as you go, from where you’re at.

This is the core, calming mantra to return to. You are right, right now. You are enough. You know enough. Do what you can with what you have with what you know from where you are today. (Even kids can and do start businesses. So can you.)

Start by reminding yourself that business is not rocket science. (Random aside: Apparently most rocket science is not even rocket science.) Business is a wide assemblage of very basic, practical, learnable concepts and skills. You may already have a good handle on some of these things without even being aware of it. You may have soaked up business mainstays by merely existing in our culture. Even if you’re a rank beginner (you are not), you are only a beginner at the beginning. Decide to keep learning and implementing new things and you’re on your way. Google it. Watch a YouTube video. Take a book out of the library. Ask another author or business owner. Continue with more of the same.

There is no right or wrong approach. Choose what’s interesting or what seems like a good idea. Test it. Measure it. If it works, keep it. If it doesn’t, tweak it or move on to other ideas. Nothing is so precious or sacred that it’s a must-do or a must-keep.
