I LOVE the cover of your short story collection, Virginia. Can you provide the designer source? I'm making a list. Crime fiction isn't in my wheelhouse but your stories sound incredibly interesting. You may want to check out https://substack.com/@carmenamato. She used to work for the CIA and, similar to you, her work now informs the series she writes.
I'm actually curious as to how these revenue streams work for David. Like, is it money upfront? Every purchase? I love the idea of partnering with local businesses, though. All of my soon-to-be-written instalove stories will be based in my hometown and I look forward to building my author ecosystem.
Thanks for your comment. May I ask you to clarify what \you mean about "money upfront"? Are you asking if you pay anything up front (and to whom)? or Receive anything up front (and from whom, for what)?
I guess I was just asking how the revenue stream works with partnerships. For instance, the caramel corn place that bundles his book. Does he receive a check upfront for the bundles? Once the bundles are sold? Hope that makes sense.
I don't know how it works for David, but in my experience it can be either...whatever the two parties negotiate. Typically, if they'd buy they books in volume (6, 12, 20, 50) in advance they'd get a higher discount than if paying later (either 30 or 60-day terms or consignment). Other terms to discuss are how to handle returns/damages.
This is so creative! As a longtime academic and newbie fiction-writer, I am delighted to be learning from you.
Virginia....share your book cover and author website link here. They're both so eye-catching!
With pleasure, Sharon!

Ah. ok. Gotcha.
David gave us all a lot of food for thought and ideas for brand expansion. It was a really useful talk for me.
